What you need to know about IELTS exam.
Like TOELF, IELTS also comprises four tests:
1 / A listening comprehension test consisting of 40 questions. It lasts 40 minutes. You listen to audio recordings and then have to write the answers to the questions on an answer sheet. The questions can be multiple choice, but can also be more original (e.g. fill-in-the-blank texts).
2/ A reading comprehension test, which also includes 40 questions and lasts one hour. In this section, you must read several texts and answer questions related to them. The questions may be "True, False, Not given" or they may involve matching headings to paragraphs in the text. Depending on the version of the IELTS test, you will have three to five texts and 8 to 14 questions.
3/ A one-hour writing test divided into two parts. In the first part, you must comment on a graph or table (IELTS academic) or write a letter (IELTS general training). In the second part you will write a short essay based on a question or argument.
4/ An 11-to-14-minute speaking test. This test usually takes place the day before the written tests and is conducted face-to-face in front of an examiner.
